Stolen Generation

Stolen Generation

Checkpoints
1. The Aboriginies came from Asian mainland and the islands north of the Australian continent.
2. The reason for this was unknown diseases; smallpox was one of the main reasons.
3. They estimated that around 100,000 kids were taken away from their homes.

Research and discover
1. The Māori, are the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand. The Māori originated with settlers from eastern Polynesia, who arrived in New Zealand in several waves of canoe voyages at some time between 1250 and 1300 CE. Its extreme disadvatage in social and economic conditions for them.
2. The Maoris and Aboriginals preserved their belief systems through oral traditions. In the Aboriginal culture, deities do not have one role, but rather, fulfill a variety of roles.
Maoris, on the other hand, believe all natural elements and living things are connected by a common genealogy.
Aboriginal Walkabout Ritual: refers to the rite of passage for adolescent males in the Aboriginal culture. Maori Moko Ritual:
Traditionally, the Maori tattoo is first commenced at puberty as a rite of passage. Throughout the years, additional tattoos are added to signify important life events.
The history of Aboriginal Australians is thought to have spanned 40,000 to 45,000 years, although some estimates have put the figure at up to 80,000 years before European settlement. The Aboriginal Australians lived with a strong dependence with the land, and also the water. Each group developed skills for the area in which they would live – hunting or fishing or gathering.
The path of Australian Aboriginal history changed radically after the 18th- and 19th-century settlement of the British: Indigenous people were displaced from their ways of life, were forced to submit to European rule, and were later encouraged to assimilate into Western culture. Since the 1960s, reconciliation has been the pursuit of European Australian–Aboriginal Australian relations.
The arrival of Europeans to New Zealand starting from the 17th century brought enormous change to the Māori way of life. Māori people gradually adopted many aspects of Western society and culture. Initial relations between Māori and Europeans were largely amicable, and with the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840, the two cultures coexisted as part of a new British colony. Rising tensions over disputed land sales led to conflict in the 1860s. Social upheaval, decades of conflict and epidemics of introduced disease took a devastating toll on the Māori population, which went into a dramatic decline, but by the start of the 20th century, the Māori population had begun to recover, and efforts were made to increase their standing in wider New Zealand society. Traditional Māori culture has enjoyed a revival, and a protest movement emerged in the 1960s advocating Māori issues.

3. I think that the Europeans maybe liked the Maories more than the Aborognies. That the Maories were easier to understand, to speak with and to live with.

The way forward

“Modern digital technology is a blessing and the only way forward”. Modern technology, a thing who are around us everywhere these days. Cellphones, cars, buildings, machines and more. Modern technology have shaped the human life the last century. People everywhere in this country use it; they may not think about it them self but they do.

Cellphones, how is this a modern form of technology? When the cellphones arrived to this world. The cellphone was a big, heavy box that not many owned. It was just possible to call each other with it, through a phone station where people had to link you up with the other person you called. Later, they changed into things that almost everyone checks and uses all the time. The phones went into more advanced things. Linked up with the internet. The phone have been turned into a thing which people use every day, more like a helping tool for everything.

Same thing with the cars, they have a huge change during a short amount of time. When Henry Ford came up with the idea of the car, and made one. It was a car with no technology like these days. The car had no kind of security, so if you crashed then you then your chances for survival was small. However, today, the modern technology have made it safer on the road. With technology who helps you with brakes, backing cameras, seat belts, better constructions who are made for a safer way to save your life if you crash.

Buildings have turned into more advanced constructions who stands hundred meters up to the sky. The modern technology have made it possible to make a digital detailed plan about how the building should be build safest possible. As skyscrapers, constructed for hard weather, strong wind and they are standing still. Without the modern way to do this, it would not have been possible. The modern technology it is a huge tool.

Modern technology have been a thing who have changed how people live. It have shaped the world landscape, something positive, other things negative. It have given us new ways to communicate and other ways to transport things around the world much faster. It have made the human life much safer and the modern technology are still making new ways for us.

Disconnect

1) A brief introduction to what the film is about.
I think the movie is about how technology can trick you, people think everything online is safe. Like the woman who where on a livechat page, chatting with a person who where down like her self because of her child died. Meanwhile they talked, the man emptyed her bank account. The movie is about how the internet can harm people, relationships and how it's just in every persons life.
2) Your opinion about the issues presented in the film - are there any familiar elements?
Well, like the boy who get bullied online. You can always hear about people who are getting bullied online, maybe not that extreme. Also, people who are getting their account hacked because they give sensitive information to people who fake mails from the banks and things like that. Those thiefs are everywhere, so you always are around the issues.
3) Did you like the film? Why/why not?
I did like the film, because the movie did present different problem caused by the online technology. Problems that are around us at anytime. Still, people dont even think a second about it. I think some people are to naive. I liked the way the movie did present different problems at the same time. It was like the movie was made in a community where it followed different lifes.
4) Which part of the film made an impression on you?
The part where the two boys made a fake facebook page, as a girl and started to chat with another boy who where kind of lonely. After some messages they got him to send a naked picture of himself, after that they did text it around to people and it was over his school at no time. This made the boy to try a suicide and then they litteraly caused problems for everyone cause of a little inicent joke. This made me think about how small jokes can be turned into something big for other people. This was kind of the most exreme types of jokes to do to people, but still - it made an impression.

The text are about how technology have shaped the human life, made it easier and how we have become more lazy then ever. The texts also are about how people in this time finds their "true love" over apps on their cellphone, tinder.

I kind of agree with the text, it is true.

I use technology everywhere, always. I use it to talk to communicate with people, do and check my homework and play games.

Events in American History

1. Yes I think they had good reason because the colonies shouldnt pay for King George III bills because of he's expensive acts during the war.

2. To colonize eachother can be a positive thing. For example if Norway have no rules, the goverment are failing and things are just going bad. Then Denmark comes over to colonize Norway, with their rules and everything. Then Norway may be able to come back on their feet again. And thats when a colony should be granted Independence.

3. I think its both positive and a negative rule. Its ofcourse a positive thing to have a firearm to protect yourself from some people who are trying to hurt you. Still, accidents can happen and not every person in the whole world are fit for having a weapon. But I think that everyone should have the right to bear a firearm, with some rules like 20 hours of guntraining. Still, not any kind of guns. Bigger guns should have many more hours of guntraining and weapons like bazooka's are not fit for normal peoples.
